What the merge does
- Each source becomes a top-level contents entry with its own chapters nested underneath.
- Images and chapter files are renamespaced per source, so two books that both contain cover.jpg keep their own.
- The first book’s cover becomes the merged book’s cover; the rest stay as ordinary pages.
- Authors are combined, and the language is kept when every book agrees on one.
Going the other way
An omnibus can be cut back into books at its top-level contents entries in the editor, which writes one EPUB per part and bundles them into a ZIP.
